We've had two open air mid day in crowded circumstances shootings and everyone is up in arms about stiffer sentences and the same songs I've been listening to my whole life.In my day a dirty spoon, needle or cotton got you jail time.Heroin possession was pen time and armed robbery was a sure 10-20 with very little chance of parole. One of the victims was a crack dealer with three convictions for trafficking and an 8 month conditional sentence.I've watched and know when somepeople get caught cold that they won't do any jail time. This poor kid obviously made a bad deal and never lived to see it through. The little guy was pushed out of the equation long ago.The more severe the crack down the more violent the retaliation. The town's being run by some real bad boys these days and there are never any arrests in these gang hits.People are whining about the danger to bystanders. It's another prohibition. It's not going to go away and the get tough by police will be met by more violence from the gangsters. These wars are being fought all over the planet and it's Am erican drug policy that's driving the killing. How many more billions can they continue to toss down the drug war toilet in such tough times? How many more young people will have to die trying to just get by?Let's not forget that this is all futile and has gotten consistantly worse since Nixon declared hi war on drugs.
